The One Where Henry Has Given Up Pants!

Henry has become the pants less wonder here at the Birkholz household. He has sort of started to potty train without any of us putting any real effort into it. Basically he takes his pants off and goes about his business of playing until we hear a hooray and he comes out of the bathroom clapping. Yup we don't even have to ask him to use it he just does. Actually if we ask him he will usually refuse.

Not to say we don't have the occassional "we don't poop in the shower we poop in the potty" moments but they are becoming much more uncommon (thank goodness!) It has been fun to watch him take initiative and I realize I should probably be jumping at the chance to go into full potty training mode, but until he becomes a big brother I think I will just let him be!

Here he is wearing all of his underpants at one time!

A complete look without the pants!

Every night they snuggle and watch a Kipper the dog show. Notice they both have the same look and elbow placement.

Snow Day

We awoke to a snow day this morning! Once Henry saw it he was so excited. We quickly devoured our pancakes and syrup and then bundled up and headed out for some fun in the snow. He actually let me put real gloves on him which made it his best snow play adventure yet! He was able to really use his hands without them getting too cold. Usually with cold hands he lasts 20 minutes but today after 1 1/2 hours I had to force him inside (cocoa and cookies!).

It was such a fun time. He did lots of running and digging. We also made snowballs and had a snowball fight! Now we are bundled up on the couch watching Kipper the dog drinking coco and eating some cookies! Today just might be the perfect day!

From Passat Wagon to Swagger Wagon

Anyone who knows how Bill and I function is aware that right before we have a baby we always seem to make a big impulse buy. When I was 8 months pregnant with Henry we got our second dog Olive. Then I proceeded to cry for two days about it! She did turn out, despite most opinions about her, to be such a sweet addition to our family.

Well in true Bill and Katie fashion we went out on Saturday and bought a new car. The worst part was that I traded in my beloved passat wagon to do so! Bill has hated that wagon since the day we brought it home and I have loved it.

Anyhow we had decided we needed something bigger to suit our growing family. Also we were looking for something with extra seats for when family comes to town. So folks we got a mini van!!! Those who know Bill know he has wanted a mini van for years and I have always been very against it. I decided to let Bill make the call and basically came along to the car lot to play with Henry, who loved playing in all the floor models.

Anyhow Bill worked his magic and showed his sheer determination to own a mini van by trading in my passat, getting his mini van all while lowering our car payment. He is the happiest he has ever been! I on the other hand am getting used to the idea slowly. I find myself wanting to drive to the soccer field and load up a team! I do think though that I will soon be on Bill's side of the mini van love affair because it does have a lot of room which is so nice with our family! Here she is...

Yes it is a "swagger wagon" for those of you who have seen the you tube video. Here is the video if you haven't seen it.

This That and the Other

Pregnancy has officially left me unmotivated and tired. Here is a quick recap of the last weekend and week in pictures.

Went to Ocean Shores last Friday. So fun unitl Henry fell in tubby and chipped his tooth. After call to dentist at home(yes he is amazing and gives us his home number for emergencies) we realized he would survive chipped tooth and all! Though his already big lips swelled to a ridiculous size!

We had a Valentine's Day Party with friends which was a lot of fun. Kids played and made some valentines. Bill even got heart shaped pizza for them!

Went to the Valentine's party at Microsoft and decorated cookies! The kids also got a caricature drawing done. We were amazed they sat still!

This week we have been pretty laid back. Lots of at home playing while Mommy puts up her swollen feet! Here we are grocery shopping at 8am on Wednesday. Yes he is eating the in store sample of chocolate chip cookies for breakfast! At least he looks cool while doing it..ha!

Little Kicker

Henry has been taking a soccer class for the last year and he loves it. It is called Little Kickers and it is really a lot of fun. They don't actually play soccer games but more running games and coordination games getting them ready to play soccer one day. Henry does well with the exception of not listening from time to time (not too surprising). He loves to run fast and kick the ball high into the sky. It is the perfect match for my high energy little guy!

His coach is so amazing. He often can get Henry to listen when I can't and Henry adores him! He loves to run right next to Coach Brian and though he often acts shy towards him he talks about him a lot when we are not at class.

So picture day was last week and here they are...absolutely priceless. He was so proud to take a picture with his team and by himself!

GO PACK GO!

Yay Packers! Our household is very excited the Packer's won the Superbowl last night. I think Bill even went to bed with a smile on his face. After they won Henry ran around the house yelling "yay Superbowl!!"

We celebrated at home just the three of us. We were all feeling like being cozy and it worked out to be one of the best Superbowl's we have ever had. We made lots of snacks, had a fire, posted up on the couch and watched our game. One of Henry's favorite loud bands, as he likes to say, is the Black Eyed Peas so we let him watch the half time show. I am not sure he even blinked during the whole performance.

Henry spent some of the game nestled between us on the couch and the rest of the game running around the house like a crazy man! The couch snuggling was so sweet because he has become very affectionate lately. He kept resting his head on our shoulders while saying I love you mommy and daddy. It really is the best thing ever! He fell right asleep last night because I think he ran up and down our hallway about 100 times. Cheeseheads make the boy crazy!

I was hoping to have some great pictures of Henry decked out in his Packer gear but his fashion sense has developed and shortly before the game he decided his Santa pajamas would be a much better choice for the game. I guess we will call them his lucky pajamas from here on out.

Happy Monday!

Here he is with his girl Halle last March wearing his Green Bay shirt!
