This evening I was steaming some broccoli for the above mentioned mac n cheese and I dropped a piece on the ground. I was in no rush to pick it up and thought a dog would help me out, but one minute later I looked over and Henry was on the ground eating raw broccoli!!! He was devouring it and ate 3 whole pieces. Yes this is what equals an exciting day for me now as a Mom and I love it!

Little Trees
When I was little I remember my grandma calling broccoli "little trees" so I would eat them. I thought it was pretty cool and it did encourage me to chow down. Henry has not been swayed by my cute comparisons (I am not sure he really understands them!) or the fact that I have put insane amounts of butter and cheese on veggies to tempt him. So far we have peas and the occasional broccoli mixed with macaroni and cheese on our menu despite my many attempts to introduce every vegetable possible.

First Snow Trip
We traveled yesterday with the Huberts up to the snow for Halle and Henry's first sledding trip! It was a super fun and a super short trip. I believe Halle and Henry each took 4 trips down the hill and that was enough! It was so worth it. After Henry's first run he looked so incredibly proud of himself! I didn't get many pictures because after the sledding Henry was super grumpy (due to the 5am wakeup...again!). Can't wait for more trips like this.

Toddler Lesson #145
Henry teaches me a lot of things about life on a daily basis. Today was no exception. We went for a walk this morning and 15 minutes into our journey Henry was out like light(maybe that 5am wake up was the reason??!!) We arrived home and after a 30 minute snooze this is how he woke up! If I could wake up this way every day or even once a week I would be thankful! This clip brightened my morning and hopefully it will brighten yours too!

No Hitting
Henry has become quite fond of hitting. He hits others (mainly Halle) and he also hits himself (usually when looking at his reflection in the oven door.) We have begun time outs which I am not sure he gets...he kind of thinks it is fun to be away from everyone and often times at the end of the time out he immediately hits me again! So anyhow we got a book called "No Hitting" and he loves to read it. I am not sure if it is the book or timeouts but he has cut down on the hitting! Here is a funny picture of him reading his first self help book. By the way that is a tattoo on his forehead that we had some trouble getting off. Bill and I also learned a lesson this week...don't put a tattoo on your child's forehead!

A Tisket a Tasket...
This is a funny and long video. I was checking my email yesterday and turned around and this was what Henry was doing. He is also doing it right now as I am typing. Funny thing is that he found the bracelet and then immediately searched for the basket to complete the ensemble.

We Are Back
We are back! With all of the holiday travel and celebration we have neglected our blog! I will start by saying Christmas was awesome and New Years was great. I uploaded pictures on the picture sight which are pretty fun!
Henry has been fighting a cold since Christmas and last week it turned into a double ear infection and croup...yuck. The awesome Microsoft sent a doctor to our house in the middle of the night and we got him checked out and had prescriptions filled and he is now on the mend.
Henry has continued to amaze us and keep us on our toes with his active and hilarious personality! He loves books and will look through them forever! He also has a bunch of words but the ones we hear most often are ca (car), ga (garbage), kiki (kitty) and he pants like a dog for the word dog. Everything in Henry's world breaks down into one of these categories. If it has wheels it is a "ca", if he wants to get rid of it it is "ga", if it is small and furry it is a "kiki" and if it is big and furry he pants! He also has formed his own language and will sometimes ramble endlessly at you and do lots of pointing with the funniest of expressions. I caught only a little bit of it on tape, check it out!
We also have been taking advantage of a couple dry days here and there to go to the park and play! Henry is into kicking and throwing a ball so we have been getting lots of practice. I can already tell late spring and summer are going to be so full of fun and activity! Here he is last night after two trips to the park!
