9 months!!!

Henry had his 9 month check up today and the results are in...23.1lbs and 291/4 inches long! He has grown a whole inch and put on 3 lbs in 3 months. Dr. E said he is growing at a great pace and is a big healthy boy. He said that Henry's lack of sleep is due to the fact that he is a teething machine. Number 8 is cutting through right now with number 9 on its way! Henry gave him lots of babbles and smiles and even a little giggle when he checked his ears. I think the stranger anxiety is getting better which is a great relief for Bill and Me. So our thoughts are confirmed, he is perfect!

We are continuing to build his repertoire of finger foods. He loves tofu, black beans, green beans, pears, cheese, peas, toast etc...but the only problem is he shoves them all in is mouth at one time! This week we are going to try some new combos and maybe even let him eat a little of what we are eating. Both bill and I have become quite the pros at cutting everything in cubes for the little guy, but it has been hard to keep up with his intake! As his bottle count goes down his demand for food has gone up and he is eating 3 meals a day with 2 snacks.

He has started looking at the dogs and saying "duh" which I think is the beginnings of his first word. Somehow I knew his first word might be dog rather than mom or dad because he just loves those dogs and they are so patient with him. Now that he is trying to stand he often uses Wilson to gain some balance which is pretty funny to see. It is almost as if they are working together to accomplish the task.

Mt. Rainier

We ventured to Mt. Rainier on Sunday and were a bit unprepared for the snow packed trails! We did end up finding a stroller friendly road and took a nice walk and played in the snow (i.e. Henry ate a bunch of snow) and soaked up the sunshine. We also decided it is time to purchase a backpack carrier for our heavy little guy so we can really hit the trails next time. It was a fun afternoon despite the fact that Henry was a little grumpy! We are so happy to see the sunshine and it feels like summer will be here before we know it. Henry has proven to be quite the outdoorsmen and loves our trips to the park and basically anywhere outside! We are lucky to have so many great parks so close our house! As Henry is getting older we are able to do so much more with him which has been so nice for all of us. He is still a little shy and sensitive but he also has quite an adventurous streak in him which is so fun to watch him develop. He loves to crawl all over the grass and try to eat everything from pine cones to flowers...I guess we need to feed him more! Her are some pics from our latest adventures!

Excuse Me I have Someting to Say...

I know this is the 3rd blog this week but it has been a funny one. We have been very excited today because we got a new refrigerator...the old one died 2 days ago! So with all the excitement Henry had a lot to say. I even captured his "girly" scream..Enjoy the weekend.

Say Cheese

I thought this picture was pretty funny. After taking endless pictures of Henry over the past 9 months he has learned to smile when he sees the camera. He is very serious about it and will even stop crying and flash a toothy smile if he sees the camera.

We have been doing really well and just enjoying the end of the 8th month with our little guy. He has been pulling up to his knees a lot and after spending a couple days with his girlfriend, Halle, he has been trying to pull up to a stand just like her. He also has been imitating her high pitched "girly" scream which is pretty funny. Henry has been getting louder and louder and our house is often filled with his chatter day and night.

His new favorite thing is his red cross thermometer pacifier. He has never liked pacifiers and we even went through a phase with no matter how hard I tried to get him to like them he would just spit them out! We were out one day at Target and he was fussing so I dug through my diaper bag and found the thermometer and gave it to him. He has loved it ever since. He is getting so big and I am excited to go visit Dr. E next week and get his weight and height. At 9 months old he is already in 12-18month clothing!!!

Crazy Babies

Henry and his girlfriend are becoming funnier by the minute! This was last week before nap time. They were both so tired and acting a little tipsy! They sure do have fun together! Happy Monday!

Happy Mother's Day

Well my first Mother's Day was wonderful! Our friends Lauren and Liana both came to town for the weekend and we couldn't of had more fun. We packed up Henry and headed to Bainbridge Island. He insisted we bring his girlfriend Halle and since we know what a good time those Huberts are we all took the ferry ride over to the island to ring in Mother's Day and to also just have a great time! The weather was beautiful and we stayed at Lauren's beautiful place and soaked up the sun and the "mangosas" (think mimosa but with mango juice!). The kids had a blast and crawled all around the grass and even got some naked time in the beautiful warm weather. Naked time did come to a halt when we realized Henry was peeing all over his girlfriend Halle's back...poor girl! Henry was so excited to wish me a Happy Mother's Day that he awoke ready to party at 4:30am. I managed to convince him that he got the wrong invitation and he dozed back off until about 6am. Bill and Gregg made all the women breakfast. It was pretty cute. Bill made pancakes, for the first time ever, and Gregg made a yummy egg casserole. It was really wonderful to see the two of them working hard and making a mess to make us feel special. When I was watching Bill flip pancakes it dawned on me that it was Mother's Day and that I am actually a mom. It was a wonderful and weird feeling! I am happy though that I get to be a mom to such a great little guy.

Henry continues to amaze us every day. He is full of new sounds and is now getting into everything. As I continue to say "no, no" he either laughs or yells back which I hope is not preview of years to come. I hope all the moms out their had a great mother's day.

8 1/2 months and counting!

Well Henry just keeps getting bigger and better. He is now working on his 7th tooth! Pretty soon he will have braces! He is sleeping better or maybe I have just come to terms with the fact that I now wake up between 5 and 5:30am. I always lay in bed for a minute thinking maybe he will go back to bed but I always end up groggily going into his room flipping on the light and seeing my little guy staring up at me with a big toothy grin! At least he is in a good mood and he always allows me to have a cup of coffee before we start playing and trying to wake Bill up. He is a crawling machine and loves to follow me around the house all day. He has also started pulling up to his knees on anything possible which is pretty funny to see. It is weird to think even 3 or 4 months ago he was still in his baby "blob" mode. Now I have to give him a once over each night to check for new crawling scrapes and bruises! He is such a funny little boy. He loves to giggle and rough house but he also has an extremely sensitive and emotional side. He is the only person I know who can laugh and cry at the same time. He has also stared to be able to express his frustration towards me when I end playtime and usually gives me a scream or a growl. He also has started to clap whenever we say "yay" which has given Bill and I a few good laughs and Friday night entertainment. He also is working on waving goodbye which is exciting for us and we practice every time Bill leaves for work in the morning. Oh and his funniest new skill is that he dances. He has always been a non stop mover but now when music is turned on he does this funny little bopping that is pretty cute. I have been trying to get all of this on video but the little booger keeps trying to steal the camera when I put it on him so I will have to keep trying. I updated the pictures on the link to the right and I put some of the funny ones from the last couple weeks below...and yes those are kneepads he is wearing!
