Surprises, Packing and Fun! This is a Long One!

This past weekend we packed up and headed to Portland to surprise Grandpa Steve at Auntie Anna's house! We had so much fun just hanging around and watching Henry! Grandpa Steve played lots of silly games with Henry and really made him smile. He also fell in love with Auntie Anna's puppy! It has been so fun to watch Henry bond with family and it is also nice for Bill and I to watch people we love so much spoil Henry rotten with hugs and kisses. Henry had Grandpa Steve laughing when he ate breakfast because he let out a yum sound after each bite!

Henry has also really started practicing his crawl stance but never manges to get moving. He usually just rolls around the room to get from point A to point B. I am almost convinced he won't crawl but instead just roll! It is still pretty funny to see him get on all fours and wiggle.

As the months pass Henry and his friend Halle have really started to notice each other! They often smile and squeal whenever they see each other. They also are always tugging at each others toys, feet, heads, etc! They are almost like a set of twins even though Henry is quite a bit bigger than his petite little girlfriend! Halle also loves to chat and has been teaching Henry lots of different ways to use his voice. Sometimes you can't tell their little screams apart! It has been a lot of fun to have our "baby coffee play dates" with Halle and Emily and watch their little personalities and bond with each other grow. Hopefully they will get to be quite close over the years and we can pester them with embarrassing pictures of tubby time!

Well we venture to Santa Monica on Saturday to visit with our good friends Kate and Tom and then off to Mexico to celebrate Auntie Tink and Uncle David's wedding on Tuesday morning. We are getting so excited and have been packing like crazy. Packing has been quite a production but after tireless hours of Internet research I believe I have packed the perfect bag! The trip will be amazing and I am so excited to see my sister and David get married. Also it will be so fun to have some time with family and friends for a whole week on a cruise ship. Henry even gets to hang out with his cousins Ben and Michael and spend a whole night with Titi and Papa. I can't wait to put up the pictures and tell of our adventures when we return. Below is a picture of Henry helping with the packing!

Cave Baby!

My new joke around the house is that Henry is a little cave man baby. Everything is a new discovery for him. He often takes some new object and grunts at it and taps it on the floor. Just the other night he was fascinated with the remote and gave it a thorough inspection. I have a video posted of it below. We head for LA in 9 days and hit the waters in 12. I sure hope those top teeth come in before we set sail or our neighbors on the ship may not like the 5 am wake up call.

Life Just Keeps Getting Better!!

Last week after getting an email from baby center I convinced myself to remove the bumpers from Henry's crib. The first night they were gone I came in to find Henry's arms stuck hanging through the crib rails so as he slept I quietly put the bumpers back on the crib...he didn't even wake up. Ever since then during naps and at bed time Henry holds onto his bumper for dear life! It is pretty funny and it makes us both feel better!

Also Henry has finally started sleeping well again. His two bottom teeth are officially in and he is feeling good as we anxiously await his top two teeth! He had been getting up at 5am every morning and would look asleep but just cry and cry. So after a lot of research online and insane amounts of caffeine I found a solution. Every morning I quietly make my way into Henry's room and jostle Henry so he moves but does not wake up. This is supposed to reset his body clock after 4 days and stop the habitual 5am wakings. I have done this for the past 4 nights and despite Bill's laughter and thoughts that his wife has gone off the deep end, Henry is now sleeping in again until almost 7am with no 5am cries!!! So for now we are in a a great stage of good sleeping and lots of laughter and smiles. I do realize that this can change so quickly. Just when I think I have Henry figured out he throws me a curve ball! I put a picture below that really shows off those two little teeth he worked so hard to have!

We have been getting ready for our cruise to Mexico which embarks in 2 weeks!! Lots of lists have been written and today we go to Target once again to get those items which I hope will help while hanging out on a ship with a 7 month old teething baby! We are excited to swim for the first time with our little guy and get a chance to spend time with family!

Henry's Long Lost Twin!

Henry has been looking at his reflection for many months now and giving his "twin" in the mirror some smiles but last night he was really intrigued by his reflection twin" and it was pretty darn cute!

Henry has also become my baby food guinea pig. I have started mixing up my own combinations for him to try. My desire for a new activity and his desire for anything food has become a match made in heaven. His favorite so far is the avocado banana oatmeal and the sweet potato, green bean, avocado and brown rice mixture! He is loving this new world of food! At the end of the week we are going to try mango!

6 months and growing!

Wow Henry is officially 6 months old! We had our 6 month well check and Henry is weighing in at 20.8lbs and he is 28 1/4 inches long. That puts him into the 97th percentile. He now has his 2 bottom teeth and the Dr. said it looked like the top 2 were on their way...that might explain the fussy baby we have been seeing around our house!

He is working so hard to try and crawl and he rolls all over the house. Occasionally he will stop and wiggle like a fish to get his body to move. This has become quite the thing to watch and he has even started practicing crawling during nap time! The other day I heard commotion on the monitor and found him practicing in the crib. I took a little video because it was just so funny catching him like that.

Henry has continued to enjoy solid foods and we have gotten into all kinds of combo's. His favorite right now is the peach, banana, oatmeal...he gladly woofs down the whole 4oz. jar without a blink! He also loves frozen bananas and peaches and has been using this cool little safety feeder so he can feed himself! It has been a great time filler and has also given him some relief from teething! Up next are finger foods and some yogurt! This picture is of him chewing up a storm in his highchair. He doesn't usually wear sunglasses but we had just bought them that morning for our upcoming trip to Mexico and I couldn't resist trying them out!

The month has been a good one. We took a trip to the Children's Museum with Emily and Halle and had a fun time. Bill and I also took him to the zoo. He loved looking at all the people but showed no real interest in the animals, which is so funny because he is absolutely obsessed with Wilson, Olive and Kitty. Henry has found his voice and fills our house with screams and giggles. He also has begun playing peek a boo which has been fun for everyone. A quick game of peek a boo has saved many a trip to the grocery store when outbursts begin! He also loves to listen to his Dad play guitar and even takes a try sometimes. Every night before bed he and Bill have a jam session. I took a video the other night because Henry added some occasional vocals to the session!!
He is just so much fun now and Bill is trying to find a way to keep him this age forever. We have a big month ahead with a cruise to Mexico at the end of the month for Auntie Tink and Uncle David's wedding. I will keep you posted on all the excitement! I also put up a couple new pictures on our picture site if you want to check it out.
