Sunny in January!!??

We woke up to a beautiful day today so we packed our little guy up in his stroller and walked to the park to show Bill how Henry loves to swing in the bucket swings! Henry and I have been doing this a couple mornings a week and he just loves it! The sun was shining and the park was full and we all had a great time. I thought this video was pretty darn cute! I accidentally took the video sideways so you"ll have to tilt your head to the side...it is worth it!

Henry has also been showing an ever increasing love of dogs. He thinks they are so funny. Wilson is his favorite but he also adores Olive and the Hubert's dog Ranger. The other day I got a little clip of him giggling at Wilson!

Peas Please!

Henry has officially started solids! After a few weeks of rice cereal and oatmeal Henry has ventured into the world of peas!! I took a video of the first official taste and he was very stunned at the taste...no funny faces but a lot of staring at us! He has been eating them for a few days and he absolutely loves them. We also have noticed that he is sleeping better and is a lot less fussy. I think our big guy needed some extra calories to maintain his always moving body! Bill and I just can't believe how big and grown up he is getting. He is trying to crawl like crazy and has found a new found love for ALL dogs! He also has been rolling over like crazy and is using it to his advantage to be mobile. He often will roll from one end of the room to the other and after every nap he is always in a different position than we put him down in. It is amazing how fast he has grown!

Leaving on a Jet Plane 2

We left Saturday morning for a quick trip to Sacramento to throw Auntie Tinka and Uncle David a wedding shower. It5 was lots of fun and Henry was pretty well behaved the whole time. We also got to see Nana, Titi and Papa and Auntie Lauren. It was nice to see Nana since we were unable to see her on Christmas. She and Henry even got some alone time so Bill and I could meet a friend for dinner! Henry also got to meet his cousins Ben and Michael as well as Uncle Joe and Auntie Lisa. It was so cute to see the boys with Henry. At one point they even undressed him and then put his clothes back on...very cute!
On our way home our flight ended up being delayed and we hung out at the airport with Henry for about 6 hours!!! It wasn't too bad but we were so happy when they announced we were boarding! Henry was a trooper and managed to sneak in a couple cat naps during the wait! After such a big day and a quick trip we all slept like logs last night!!!

The Adventures of Mr. Mom

Time is flying by and things are going so well. Our little guy is almost 5 months old and thriving! He is now eating cereal 3 times a day and is always opening his mouth wide for the next spoonful. Feeding him is one of my favorite parts of the day because we giggle and he loves to sit in his highchair like a big boy. His new favorite toy in the high chair is my plastic measuring spoon bundle, which he loves to throw on the floor! Henry's personality has really started to shine and he is a very happy little guy. He loves to smile and does it all day long. He smiles after naps, during bottles, in his bouncy and even when his girlfriend Halle cries!!! We still get the occasional freak out from him but those times are easily forgotten with the next smile.
We had another big event happen...mommy left town for a whole weekend! Bill played Mr. Mom for a weekend while I went to Portland. The boys did so well together and it was such a great trip. The first morning I was gone I called and Bill shared with me that he was in the living room in his underwear trying to get dressed because it had been pretty crazy trying to care for Henry and himself at the same time. It made me giggle that Bill was going through a sort of parenting "boot camp" and was so honest with me about how it was crazy. I was so ready to come back on Sunday to relieve a tired and crazed Bill possibly still in his underwear, but when I came home I instead found things had calmed down and Bill was now super dad! He even bragged at how he and Henry went to the wine shop and picked out some great wines! I mark it as the weekend that Bill officially became a dad!

Jumping for Sleep

Henry has fallen in love with his jungle bouncer. He loves to bounce and move ALL the time. We had him in it the other night and we noticed he was falling asleep in it...pretty funny.

We also have been working on getting Henry to fall asleep on his own in his crib. We were prepared to endure lots of crying and had ourselves prepared with a monitor and a timer. We put him down, held our breath and after 2 minutes of crying he went to bed for the night. He can also do it with his naps and after a minute or two of cries he is out. This has given us a much happier and well rested baby...the days of rocking and sleeping in his car seat are done!!! Also Bill and I now have free evening time together which has been really nice!
